RESUMO

At� aos anos 60 do s�culo XX, Portugal foi um pa�s essencialmente agr�cola e rural. O r�pido �xodo rural facilitou o abandono ou a transforma��o da agricultura. Apresenta-se aqui uma reflex�o sobre os actuais processos de rememora��o das pr�ticas agr�colas numa vila do Ribatejo (Portugal) e sobre a amn�sia social verificada relativamente ao passado agr�cola, que decorre das transforma��es ocorridas e dos valores sociais e culturais associados � reconstru��o da identidade da vila de Alpiar�a.

ABSTRACT

Until the sixties of the twentieth century, Portugal was dominantly an agricultural and rural country. The rural exodus that took place has originated the abandon and changing of agricultural practices. We present in this text a research concerning the actual processes of remembering agricultural practices from the past and also concerning the observed social memory and its forgotten elements related with the rural past, which is originated by the transformations that took place and the social and cultural values associated with the reconstruction of the identity in Alpiar�a, a village of the region of Ribatejo (Portugal).
